Thurston interviews Beck on 120 Minutes (also with Mike D from Beastie Boys)!

Holy hell! I remember watching this on TV! One of my favorite 120 Minutes moments ever! Man, that takes me back to staying up late, preparing a blank VHS and having my hand on the pause button to cut commercials and trying to get the timing just right for when it came back from commercial (though if I liked an MTV promo, I would record that too).

God, I love and miss 120 Minutes.

I was watching the video for Sonic Youth’s Empty Page yesterday, and it starts with ageless noise-Fonzie Thurston getting the words “I AM NOT BECK” scrawled on his tshirt.  It reminded me of the best interview ever recorded, ever.  It took some trawling, but here it is, in all it’s hissy, taped-over-once-too-many-times glory.  The best interview ever recorded.  Ever.
